DMLT Course Eligibility and Duration

The minimum educational qualification for DMLT course is 10+2 in Science with Biology stream and a minimum age of 18 years. Duration of the course is for 2 years which comprises 4 semesters of 6 months each.

The course fees for DMLT course varies from college to college, fees in a government college are around 10,000 to 15,000 INR whereas for private colleges the fees structure is somewhere near 20,000 to 30,000 INR which completely depend upon the reputation of the colleges.

Which is best DMLT or BMLT?

DMLT course is a 10+2 diploma course in the medical laboratory technology stream aiming to provide all skillsets for laboratory technician by giving practical training to a candidate, whereas BMLT is a bachelors level program after 10+2 and it consists a lot of theoretical training compared to DMLT.

So, one who wants to start the career early in life can opt for DMLT as it provides all necessary practical training and BMLT is the best option for the one who wants to pursue further higher education in medical laboratory technology.

Can I do DMLT after 10th?

Some standard university/college prefer 12th science as a minimum education qualification for DMLT course, but some private institute also gives admission for DMLT as an option for courses after 10th. Else you can also opt for a certification course in medical laboratory technology after 10th.

Can I do DMLT after BSC?

You can but that's not the best option as BSC is a graduation course whereas DMLT is a diploma course and there is no necessary to have a bachelors degree for DMLT course. So one can join DMLT after 12th in science if you really want to pursue DMLT.

Can I do MBBS after DMLT?

Yes, the minimum eligibility for MBBS is 12th pass in science with biology as optional with 60% aggregate and should give entrance exams like NEET to join medical colleges.

Can I open my own lab after DMLT?

Yes, once you complete the DMLT course you need to apply for all necessary license and registration to start a medical laboratory. Once you get a license and permission from the health department you can start your own medical laboratory.
